The upbeat house rhythm behind the track was heavily sampled from electronic artist Deadmau5's "Brazil (2nd Edit)" (released two years prior to "Happiness"). The lyrics were written by Autumn Rowe, Petr Brdicko, and the track was re-edited for the lyrics by StarGate. The song is about finding love in yourself before finding it in someone else
